About Our
Founder

Priscilla Leighton is the founder of Grace&Grow and a passionate advocate for children, with over 20 years of experience in inclusive education, leadership, and child safeguarding across international contexts.

Today, Priscilla partners with schools, churches, and mission organizations through Grace&Grow, offering inclusion and safeguarding consulting rooted in strategic planning, culture-shaping work, and values-driven systems.

Raised as a Third Culture Kid in the Philippines, Priscilla developed an early sensitivity to cultural nuance, transition, and life between worlds. This upbringing fostered her ability to listen deeply, adapt thoughtfully, and build trust across cultures — skills that continue to inform her work in international schools, churches, and mission organizations.

Priscilla's Story

All of Priscilla’s work traces back to a seed God planted in her heart at the age of fourteen, when her niece was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome, a rare genetic neurological and developmental disorder.

Walking alongside her family during those formative years gave her a firsthand understanding of both the challenges and the profound gifts that come with supporting neurodivergent children and their families. By her senior year of high school, Priscilla was already advocating for neurodiversity on her campus and volunteering in her community. This first calling to serve children with disabilities continues to shape her vocation today.

Priscilla earned her Master’s degree in Education: Special Education from Azusa Pacific University in California. She also holds a K-12 mild to moderate special education teacher certification from the state of California.

Priscilla began her professional career as a middle school resource specialist teacher at a Blue Ribbon public school in Diamond Bar, California. There, she provided intensive reading interventions, co-teaching support, and managed a caseload of neurodivergent students. She later served as Head of the Special Education Department at a middle school of approximately 1,200 students, developing a strong foundation in Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), Response to Intervention (RtI), and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). Working in a highly litigious state sharpened her ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, support students with complex needs, and align practice with policy. But most importantly, it was in Walnut Valley Unified School Districted that Priscilla first learned to put kids first- every student, every day.

In 2013, Priscilla moved to the Philippines and joined Brent International School as Student Services Coordinator. Her work there focused on fostering inclusive school culture by empowering students to advocate for themselves and others. She collaborated with organizations such as SENIA Youth Club and Best Buddies Philippines, helping neurodivergent students experience meaningful participation in their communities. A highlight was working with neurodivergent students to design and deliver professional development for teachers. Her students even presented their teacher-training at SENIA International Conferences.

Serving on the SENIA Executive Board during its formative years was one of Priscilla’s most influential leadership experiences. Working alongside deeply committed educators strengthened her belief in the power of collective leadership and shared responsibility. She now serves on the SENIA Advisory Board, continuing to support the organization’s vision of an inclusive world.

Priscilla’s commitment to child safeguarding was shaped through first-hand experience when her family unexpectedly became advocates for victims in an orphanage abuse case. That experience ignited a deep conviction that protecting children requires both courage and practical action.

In the years that followed, she served as Child Safeguarding Lead at Ruamrudee International School, where she gained extensive experience developing and implementing comprehensive safeguarding systems. She designed and delivered safeguarding training for all stakeholders — teachers, parents, staff, school board members, and students — ensuring that safeguarding became a shared responsibility across the community. Delivering context-specific training for faith-based organizations in Thailand and private Thai schools further strengthened her ability to adapt content to diverse cultural and organizational settings. Through this work, she learned that there are many clear, practical steps schools can take to create safer environments for children.

Priscilla has received specialized training in child sexual abuse prevention and administrative investigations under experienced mentors. Her approach combines strong policy, effective systems, and heart-centered leadership.

She is inspired by the many tangible steps organizations can take to strengthen safeguarding and is committed to helping communities understand that creating safer environments is not only essential — it is achievable.

In 2020, Priscilla and her family moved to Thailand, where she served as Director of Student Support Services and Safeguarding Lead at Ruamrudee International School in Bangkok. In this role, she led K–12 support programs and worked to expand the school’s capacity to support all learners through strong systems, thoughtful leadership, and clear safeguarding practice.

Recognizing the critical role leadership plays in sustaining inclusion, Priscilla also serves on the International School Leaders of Educational Support (ISLES) Board as Director of Membership Experience, where she advocates for building leadership capacity and system-level expertise within international schools.

The role Priscilla values most is being a mother to her two teenage daughters and a wife to her husband, Andrew. As a family, they enjoy scuba diving, spending time in nature, and playing board games together.
